Plymouth, Mass.—The Northbridge Cos. has completed Laurelwood at the Pinehills in Plymouth, Mass. The 88,000-square-foot senior housing project offers independent living, assisted living and memory care under one roof.
In fact, according to the designer The Architectural Team, which specializes in master planning and design for senior care and senior living properties, Laurelwood is among the first facilities of its kind designed from the start to be integrated into a pre-existing planned community. Located on a prominent spot in the Pinehills residential development, the company said Laurelwood encourages residents to lead an active life in Pinehills, a coastal New England-style residence.
Common amenities within walking distance of Laurelwood include a fitness center, outdoor pool and spa. Residents can use one of four common area porches, as well as walking paths designed to avoid dead ends and backtracking. Inside the building itself, there are several choices for dining.
The residence’s dining room, living room, activity room, pub, movie theater and patio serve as gathering areas for residents and their families. Pinehills and Plymouth residents are welcomed in those places as well, the better to foster community participation in the property.
Overall, the structure is also built to look like it belongs in the area, The Architectural Team explained. The building, which offers room for 80 residents, features a gambrel roof and stained western red cedar shingle siding, and exposed stone and wood cladding blend with nearby places, such as an adjacent woodland, pond and golf settings.
