Nashville Landmark Undergoes $10M Renovation

This marks one of the area’s largest projects of its kind.

The $10 million restoration of Rokeby, a landmark condominium building in Nashville, Tenn., is now complete. Work on the project at 3901 West End Ave. has been underway since August 2022, under the supervision of senior architect Eric Scowden and Goodwyn Mills Cawood Inc.

Renovation plans called for exterior and interior upgrades, including the replacement of 623 windows, painting the exterior brick walls, remodeling and refurnishing the interior lobbies and shared spaces, rebuilding the sky terrace on the 10th floor and restoring the green areas and landscaping. The project marks Nashville’s largest condo restoration to date.

Other partners included construction company Orion, interior design consultant Landy Gardner Interiors, landscaping company Greathouse Landscaping, as well as Colliers, which represented the ownership and managed the project.

The modernist Rokeby

The 13-story Rokeby building consists of 63 luxury condominium units originally completed in 1976 following the designs of award-winning architectural firm Barber McMurray. The 4-acre property is in the Whitland Avenue neighborhood. Amenities include covered parking, a pool, a fitness center, a rooftop solarium and on-site property management and maintenance services.

The condominium property is within 1 mile from Ascension St. Thomas Hospital West and Nashville State Community College, as well as Interstate 440, which connects the building to downtown Nashville, 6 miles northeast.

In a recent interview with Multi-Housing News, Northwind Group Founder & Managing Partner Ran Eliasaf discussed how condo inventory loans can extend the timeframe for borrowers to sell units at favorable prices, even when the market is slow. He also highlighted that these loans can help developers avoid the pressure of quick sales and maintain the quality of their projects.
