Join industry experts and network with colleagues while seeing one of multi-housing’s most important new trends in action! Transit oriented development (T.O.D.) is revitalizing urban cores across the country. Multi-Housing World attendees will walk away with a better understanding of how to develop mixed-use properties near a variety of mass transit modes. Tour guides will also touch on the benefits of T.O.D. including obtaining LEED credits, the ability to introduce a higher density product, and the applicability of brownfield sites. Don’t miss this fantastic learning and networking opportunity.Itinerary:Colorado Convention Center. From 8:30am – 9:00am, T.O.D. experts from Denver highlight the advantages and benefits of this type of development. The Denver metro’s economy has remained stable despite the challenges we’re experiencing on a national level. Exemplary downtown renewal initiatives were cited as the reason Denver was the only non-coastal city ranked in the top tier of cities to watch during 2008, in a study published by The Urban Land Institute and PricewaterhouseCoopers LLC. Bus departs Convention Center at 9:00am. Tour facilitators Jamie Qualk (LEED AP, SSR CX a subsidiary of Smith Seckman Reid,) Jeff Hawks (Denver T.O.D.) and Bob Koch (Principal, Fugleberg Koch Architects) provide expert running commentary and background as they point out notable projects along our route to:Stop #1: Riverfront Park, 1610 Little Raven Street. Host: East West Partners. Discussion of T.O.D. benefits as we tour this luxury condo – which has had NO problems selling units despite the uncertain general economy.  Riverfront Park is already a world-class neighborhood with an unbeatable location. It will only get better, year after year, as the Union Station Neighborhood takes shape. A number of fantastic homes- everything from lofts and condos, to townhomes and brownstones- in a wide price range are available.Participants then board the 16th Street Mall Shuttle to:Stop #2: 1600 Glenarm Place. Host: ARA. Discussion of Denver adaptive reuse; specifically the conversion of this downtown office building into one of Denver’s most upscale apartment properties.Participants receive an overview of how existing buildings are adapted for LEED, and how to incorporate LEED right from the architects design Charette of the project to make the implementation of LEED more cost effective. It is an easy two-block walk back to the Convention Center, where our Tour will finish with a 15-minute open discussion. For more information, click here.
