MULTI-HOUSING EXECUTIVES UPDATE: CPC Appoints Andrew Padian as VP of Energy Initiatives, and Other Moves

Andrew Padian (pictured) as vice president for energy initiatives.  In his new role, Padian will assist in the implementation of a range of new energy efficiency projects at CPC. He will also train mortgage officers in identifying appropriate efficiency measures and will conduct energy audits. “Providing developers with the necessary tools to build quality, sustainable, affordable housing is of the utmost importance to our organization, and energy efficiency plays a large role in that mission,” says Michael Lappin, president and CEO of CPC. “We believe that helping affordable housing developments become more energy efficient will not only be beneficial to the environment and the communities we serve, but will help offset rising utility costs including water and heating oil.”Before joining CPC, Padian ran the Multifamily Buildings Division for Steven Winter Associates Inc. (SWA). His multifamily division worked on the first affordable Energy Star and LEED buildings in New York State. He also created the first national model for training and certification of building managers and maintenance staff of multifamily buildings for energy efficiency.  “Multifamily building owners routinely spend 20 percent more on energy and water than they should, and some buildings use four to five times the amount of fuel per square foot than the building next door,” says Padian. “This program hopes to target those buildings that can make significant strides in reducing their energy bills and thereby, increase their cash flow.”Delaware Apartment Association Names New PresidentNewark, Del.–The Delaware Apartment Association (DAA) has named Kevin M. Wolfgang as the new president of the association. The third president in DAA’s history, he has previously served as a DAA Board Member.Wolfgang is the president and chief operating officer of Evergreen Realty Inc. and is a principal owner of the many apartment communities Evergreen Realty Inc. manages.  The DAA currently represents apartment owners/managers who operate over 25,000 rental units in the state of Delaware and is an affiliate member of the National Apartment Association (NAA).
