By Anuradha Kher, Online news Editor New York–Real estate developer Gotham Organization has just launched a rooftop summer music series. On May 5th, Gotham’s Open A.I.R: Artist In Residence concert series debuted with a performance by Crush Management and Interscope recording artist Charlotte Sometimes on the rooftop terrace of the 48-story Atlas, located at West 38th Street and 6th Avenue. David Picket, president of the fourth-generation Gotham Organization, is broadening the focus of the 90-year-old development and construction company to bring high design, music and culture to Manhattan living.  “We create environments that are as much about design, entertainment and culture as they are about shelter,” says Picket.Over 200 people, including residents of other Gotham properties, attended the show. “Performing on a rooftop that is overlooking the Empire State Building was probably one of the biggest highlights of my life thus far,” says the artist, Charlotte Sometimes. “I looked at it and was speechless. I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate my album release.”There will be live musical acts at Atlas on a bi-weekly basis through the summer. “We are infusing new meaning into the phrase “Artist In Residence”, by offering Atlas New York as an alternative and original music venue for up-and-coming and major label artists,” says Katherine Sabroff, vice president of marketing at Gotham. “It’s a potent mix, not just for the artist and labels, but for Gotham’s city residents, who get to experience a private show right on their own sky terrace.” On May 15th, Open A.I.R will welcome Lady GaGa, a fusion of disco, pop, punk and burlesque. On May 29th, London-based Switches, fresh off an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, will perform on the rooftop. While the May artists are signed to Interscope, additional performers from a variety of major and Indie labels will be announced shortly as Gotham finalizes its June, July and August line-up. Gotham’s City’s other luxury residential properties include Nicole at 400 West 55th St. and New Gotham at 520 West 43rd St. There are approximately 1150 tenants living in the three buildings.
