Luxury Tower Breaks Ground in Long Beach, CA
Shoreline Gateway, a 35-story development, will be the city’s tallest community. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2021.
Co-developers Ledcor Properties Inc. and Anderson Pacific LLC, together with Qualico and Lantower Residential, have broken ground on Shoreline Gateway, a 35-story, 315-unit luxury community in Long Beach, Calif. The new development is the second phase of The Current, a 223-unit luxury community completed in 2016. Shoreline Gateway is slated for completion by the fourth quarter of 2021.
Located at 777 E. Ocean Blvd., Shoreline Gateway will be connected to The Current via a 10,000-square-foot shared retail center. The new development will also feature 6,460 square feet of commercial space and five levels of subterranean parking spaces. Floor plans will include studios, one- and two-bedroom units, ranging from 580 to 2,480 square feet. Additionally, the tower will feature two-story penthouses on levels 34 and 35.
“With the building reaching a height of nearly 400 feet, the implementation of iconic massing and building forms, the design contributes in a significant way to defining the skyline of the city,” said Rick Castillo, principal of Carrier Johnson + Culture, in prepared remarks. “Shoreline Gateway addresses many of the qualities that are shaping Long Beach’s urban design goals by incorporating public plaza spaces, integration of mixed-use and resident open spaces near the street level.”
The design team includes Studio Eleven (Design Architect), Carrier Johnson + Culture (Architect of Record), RELM (Landscape Architect), Englekirk (Structural Engineer) and C&V Consulting (Civil). Build Group is the General Contractor.
