Columbus-based Lifestyle Communities intends to expand its LC RiverSouth community in downtown Columbus with the construction of 117 brand new apartments on the northwest corner of Front and Main streets. The company has submitted a proposal for the project to the Downtown Development Commission.
If approved, the new development would feature one- and two- bedroom apartments starting at 800 square feet, courtyards, and corner store retail space. Plans call for the construction of two adjoining five-story buildings with sub-level parking, as well as the preservation of the historical building at 88 W. Main St.
“It is important to us that the design is contextually relevant, while filling in the urban fabric amongst historic buildings” Chase Miller, LC’s director of development, said in a prepared statement. “It is exciting to see the RiverSouth district coming into its own and getting better every day. This will be our fourth project in the District and is an important part of our continued commitment to building a great neighborhood in Downtown Columbus.”
Pending the approval of the Downtown Development Commission in the following months, construction on the new community could start in spring 2016.
