LifeEdited Inc. Announces Plans for Micro-Apartment Project in Sao Paulo

Sao Paulo, Brazil—Specialty consultant firm to architects and developers LifeEdited Inc. recently announced plans for a new micro-apartment project in Sao Paulo.

Located on Rua Quata in the Vila Olimpia neighborhood of Sao Paulo, the 18-story building, dubbed as VN Quata, will feature 86 apartments. The size of the micro-apartments is reported to be 23 square meters (247 square feet) and will incorporate transforming furniture and design principles first incorporated in LifeEdited’s first project, Graham Hill’s apartment. Although some details are still to be worked out, LifeEdited, which will serve as a specialty consultant to Brazilian real estate Firm VITACON and their architects, will help them optimize interior spaces in order to ensure maximum functionality. Although an exact price for the units was not released, LifeEdited expects the units to be a lot less expensive compared to other properties in the area. Units will be available for purchase this year and the project is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2016.

Sao Paulo’s transportation issues have been headlining the news recently and VN Quata, although it won’t be able to directly solve these issues, aims to provide cost-effective housing in a central part of the city and to reduce the need for the well-known long commutes.

LifeEdited was launched in 2009 by trained architect-turned-entrepreneur Graham Hill. It started off as a “crowd-sourced” micro design competition that invited proposals for a 420-square-foot SoHo apartment owned by Hill. After attracting international interest and receiving 300 entries from around the world, Hill selected two Romanian architecture students, Cătălin Sandu and Adrian Iancu, whose ideas complemented the LifeEdited concept.
