LeFrak Org. has completed the $70 million, five-year renovation of LeFrak City. The 4,600-unit Queens master-planned community is located in the borough’s Corona neighborhood and was developed by the firm in 1962. The asset comprises 20 residential buildings that house some 15,000 residents.
The renovation was designed by Rosen Johnson Architects and includes upgraded lobbies and corridors; green and energy-efficient initiatives, such as solar panels, new parking decks and lighting; refurbished apartments and building facades; roofs and boilers. The property also features landscaped exteriors by Matthew Nielsen Landscape Architects. Outdoor amenities include reimagined courtyard and grounds, a new resident-only pool, soccer field, tennis court, basketball court, game and picnic tables and playgrounds.
Neighboring amenities include a branch of the Queens Borough Public Library, a post office, two large office buildings, shops and more than 3,500 parking spaces. The Queens Center Mall and Rego Center are located within walking distance.
