Charlotte, N.C.—Leasing has started at a new student-housing property, University House BLVD. The development, which is at the corner of University City Blvd. and Mallard Creek Church Rd. in Charlotte, N.C., is currently under construction, and will open in 2015.
The student-housing property is being developed by a partnership of Texas-based Inland American Communities Group Inc. (IAC) and North Carolina-based Southern Apartment Group. The five-story community will have a total of 300 units and 671 beds, plus a gated parking garage. A variety of studio, one-, two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom floor plans will be available, including a two-story townhome option.
Individual leases are offered per bedroom, which include Internet and cable in the rental price. Each fully furnished apartment features a large flat-screen TV with premium cable channels, and a washer and dryer.
Common amenities will include a resort-style multi-level pool deck with a fireplace and LED TV; a courtyard with bocce ball, ping pong, a pool table and flat-screen TVs; a 24-hour clubroom with arcade games; and an Internet bar with Mac and PC stations. There will also be outdoor kitchens with barbeque grilling areas, a 24-hour fitness center with a TRX equipment zone and a gaming lounge with a multi-screen TV wall.
The property is within walking distance to the University of North Carolina in Charlotte (UNCC), a public research university with an enrollment of about 26,500. IAC owns more than 10,000 in 19 properties, and Southern Apartment Group specializes in the development of multifamily and mixed-use properties in the Carolinas.
