Landmark To Develop Maryland Student Housing

Delivery of the community is anticipated in fourth quarter of 2029.

Landmark Properties plans to develop The Mark College Park, a student housing community adjacent to the University of Maryland in College Park, Md. The developer’s construction arm, Landmark Construction, will serve as the general contractor for the 2,079-bed project.

Consisting of two 10-story buildings, The Mark will offer a total of 601 units, ranging in size from studios to five-bedroom apartments. The Mark will feature covered garage parking and reserved parking for residents at an additional charge.

The WDG Architecture-designed project will be built on a 4.5-acre parcel now occupied by College Park Towers, comprised of two condo buildings. Landmark Properties intends to acquire the condo buildings and the parcel for the development in 2026.

Residential units at The Mark will be fully furnished. Features and finishes will include stainless-steel appliances, in-unit laundry, quartz countertops and synthetic, hardwood-looking floors in living room and bedroom areas. Common-area amenities will include an amenity deck atop the parking garage featuring outdoor grilling and seating areas, a jumbotron and one of the largest outdoor pools in the College Park market. Other amenities will include a fitness center, green space, a sports simulator and a study lounge with a cafe.

Situated directly adjacent to the south side of the campus, The Mark will be encircled by other purpose-built student housing communities, including The Standard at College Park, Landmark’s 951-bed student housing project unveiled in August of 2023. The area features student-focused shopping as well as dining and entertainment located within a short walk.

The Mark is a quarter mile removed from Fraternity Row, half a mile from the University’s McKeldin Mall and less than a mile from the College Park Metro Station, with quick access to Washington D.C. and area airports.

Delivery of the community is anticipated in fourth quarter of 2029. Two months ago, Landmark opened The Standard at Eugene, a new 703-bed student housing community in Eugene, Ore., near the University of Oregon.
