Landmark to Develop Purdue Student Housing
The company plans to complete the West Lafayette, Ind., project by the fall of 2027.
Landmark Properties plans to develop The Standard at West Lafayette, a 253-unit, 678-bed student housing community serving Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind. Completion is slated for the fall of 2027.
The development received formal approval from the City of West Lafayette at the beginning of last month. Partners on the project include architecture firm BKV Group, while Landmark’s in-house general contractor, Landmark Urban Construction, will serve as construction manager.
Apartments at the 13-story project will include studio to four-bedroom floorplans and feature stainless steel appliances and quartz countertops, as well as private balconies in select layouts.

The community is also set to comprise about 18,230 square feet of amenity space, including a rooftop clubhouse with outdoor heated swimming pool, fitness center and a fourth-floor amenity level with seating, grilling area, gaming lounge and interior courtyard. Plans also call for study spaces on every floor and 207 parking spaces.
The development will rise at the intersection of Pierce and West Wood streets in downtown West Lafayette, close to a host of dining and retail options including the Chauncey Hill Mall. The community will be within walking distance of the Purdue University’s main campus.
This marks Landmark Properties’ second development in Indiana. The first one to open was The Standard at Bloomington, a 439-unit community that came online last year.
Purdue University student housing inventory to grow
Purdue University’s total enrollment at the main campus for the current academic year clocked in at 51,306 students, well above the 43,011 figure registered in 2022, according to Yardi Matrix information. Currently, there are 17 dedicated student housing communities in the school market, encompassing almost 3,400 beds.
Last November, Subtext broke ground on VERVE II, a 143-unit, 449-bed student housing project serving the same university. The company plans to open the community by August 2025.
As a result of student housing rising demand, Purdue University also revealed plans to construct Hillenbrand Residence Hall South, an 896-bed project also in West Lafayette. The $149 million development will be funded through non-fee replaced debt and is expected to come online by June 2026.
