Landmark JV to Develop 738-Bed Connecticut Community

The firm expects to start construction on the project later this year.

A joint venture between Landmark Properties and Peninsula Investments has acquired a 1.5-acre land to develop The Mark Mansfield, a 738-bed student housing community in Storrs, Conn. The duo plans to break ground on the project later this year.

TSB Capital Advisors arranged the financing, while Landmark Construction will serve as general contractor.

The project will rise at 134 N. Eagleville Road, adjacent to the University of Connecticut’s main campus at Storrs. Downtown Storrs will be less than 2 miles away, while downtown Hartford is 24 miles southeast.

The community will include fully furnished units, as well as about 7,000 square feet of retail space, to be occupied by Huskies Tavern, a restaurant that is currently located on the site.

Landmark Properties’ student housing expansion

Landmark Properties currently has more than 70,000 student housing beds under management across north of 100 communities. The company also has more than 25 projects under development.

Landmark is working on another student housing development in the city. Dubbed The Standard at Four Corners, the community broke ground in 2023 and features 894 beds. Expected to come online this fall, the property is 2 miles from The Marks Mansfield’s site.

At the beginning of the year, a partnership between Landmark Properties, Silverpeak Real Estate Partners and Peninsula Investment acquired a development site in Fort Collins, Colo. The venture already started construction on the 193-unit, 397-bed community.
