Los Angeles—An affordable housing community for low-income seniors at the brand new Canby Woods, 7238 Canby Avenue, Reseda, has broken ground. The 98-unit residential community is the result of an important private/public partnership of Thomas Safran & Associates (TSA), Community Redevelopment Agency of the City of Los Angeles (CRA/LA), Los Angeles Housing Department (LAHD) and Los Angeles Councilman Dennis Zine (District 3). Canby Woods is a four-story, environmentally friendly LEED-certified Silver housing development that offers a selection of amenities, facilities and activities for its residents, including a state-of-the-art fitness center with cardio and weight equipment, a large, comfortable community room with a kitchen, large screen television room, two outdoor fireplaces, computer room, library and reading area, billiards table, as well as a community grand piano and lushly landscaped grounds, gardens and a courtyard. Community activities will also be provided on a regular basis.

The development consists of 98 elegantly appointed one- and two-bedroom apartments for seniors aged 55 and older, providing top-quality housing at below-market-rate rents, and continuing TSA’s commitment to developing the gold standard of affordable housing for the fastest growing segment of the population in Los Angeles.
