Tampa, Fla.—Jefferson Apartment Group and JAG Management Company have opened its latest development, Jefferson Westshore, 246 luxury apartments in Tampa, Fla.

“The location of the Jefferson Westshore property was appealing because it is centrally located within Tampa, while still remaining immediately accessible to St. Petersburg,” Jim Butz, JAG’s president and CEO, tells MHN. “The luxury rental market in South Tampa is relatively underserved currently, and the Jefferson Westshore represents one of the first new apartment openings in the immediate area over the last several years.”

Jefferson Westshore has four three-story buildings with extensive patios and balconies and each apartment features a gourmet kitchen with stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, wood-style flooring and oversized closets throughout.

Amenities include a resort style pool and an outdoor lounge with a grilling area. The clubhouse includes a fully equipped fitness center with state-of-the-art cardio and strength training equipment as well as a business center and conference room. The gated pet-friendly community also includes valet trash service and offers its own dog park.

The property is situated on the site of a former tile and stone foundry and incorporates elements into its modern design that were discovered on site, such as its outdoor community fireplace, which includes molten rock from the kilns of the former factory. Stones, tiles and artifacts from the workshop are also layered into the building design.

The Westshore is situated just 1.8 miles south of the Gandy Bridge, which is the major thoroughfare across Old Tampa Bay to St. Petersburg. It is also located just down the street from MacDill Airforce base, which is a 5,767-acre site with nearly 15,000 military and civilian employees/personnel on site and an additional nearly 17,000 family members.

“Jefferson Apartment Group develops transit-oriented properties, which the Westshore fulfills through its proximity to major East/West-bound and North/South-bound highways in the Tampa market, including 92 and 275,” Butz says. “In addition to being transit-oriented, the property is located adjacent to one of the largest employers in the area, who recently invested significant funds into their current facilities and technology.”

According to Butz, the Westshore is located at an ideal distance from Downtown, while capturing the best of Florida living through its proximity to the Bay and area parks such as Picnic Island Park and Cypress Point Park. It’s also just five miles from Westshore Plaza, the shopping and dining destination in the Tampa area including restaurants such as The Palm, Mitchell’s Fish Market, PF Changs and Maggiano’s.

Looking ahead, Butz says Jefferson Apartment Group is focused on capturing the market opportunities in Florida, with two projects under construction and two more projects scheduled to break ground in the state this year.

“JAG sees opportunity for well located luxury rental investments in key Florida markets and is actively developing and acquiring rental apartments in the core East Coast cities,” he says. “The JAG Management Company continues to grow and offer excellent customer service leasing and managing rental apartments for numerous institutional and private owners from Boston to Florida.”
