The judges for MHN’s first annual Green Initiative Awards have been chosen. They were selected based on their experience with and knowledge of sustainability within the multifamily industry.Tim Button, Partner, Stedila Design Inc.For the past 29 years, Tim has been a partner at Stedila Design Inc., a New York-based interior design firm founded in the early 1970s by John Stedila. Tim’s commissions for New York’s Visionaire, Solaire and Verdesian, all of which have earned LEED ratings, have required him to create bathrooms, kitchens, model apartments and public spaces such as health club, spa, hallways, playrooms and other amenities that meet the highest standards of environmental responsibility. Tim has lectured at and for his alma mater, Parsons, on environmental awareness in design, and he has been a panelist on the use of green materials. Anne Christine “Chris” Putnam, Co-Owner, Putnam-Pritchard Ecodesign Ltd.Chris Putnam is co-owner of Putnam-Pritchard Ecodesign Ltd. (formerly Putnam-Pritchard Interiors Ltd.) in Santa Fe, N.M. The firm works with individuals and businesses in creating greener interiors and with companies developing more sustainable product offerings or procedures. Putnam-Pritchard Ecodesign Ltd. is a member of the USGBC (U.S. Green Building Council), and Chris serves as development director for the Sustainable Furniture Council (SFC), a broad-based coalition of residential furniture industry players who came together to form an education-focused non-profit in 2006. Chief among Chris’s tasks for the SFC is assisting each member company in creating steps toward continual improvement, a plan aimed at reaching Exemplary Member eligibility status with the SFC. Robin Reigi, Founder and President, Robin Reigi Inc.Robin Reigi is the founder and president of Robin Reigi Inc. Founded in 1998 and based in New York City, Robin Reigi Inc. specializes in the sourcing, development and marketing of innovative materials relevant to architecture and design. Recognized for consistently pioneering materials that set national design trends, the team’s portfolio includes projects with many of the architecture industry’s most prolific firms, such as Diller Scofidio + Renfro, HOK and Robert Stern Architects. As consultants servicing corporations such as BMW, Herman Miller and Nickelodeon, Robin Reigi Inc. provides insight into the world of innovative materials, helping clients identify trends while finding tangible solutions to complex design problems. John Renner Jr., Senior Development Associate, Becker + Becker Associates Inc. In 2006, John Renner joined the development practice of Becker + Becker Associates Inc., a Fairfield, Conn.-based development, architecture and planning firm with a special expertise in redeveloping underutilized parcels into vibrant community assets. Prior to joining Becker + Becker, John worked as a developer with the Fifth Avenue Committee (FAC), a non-profit affordable housing developer in Brooklyn, and the Bozzuto Group, a full-service real estate company based in Maryland. John has worked on real estate projects ranging from master-planned communities, to high-rise urban infill projects, to the gut renovation of small multifamily buildings for affordable housing. John’s experience with sustainable design includes working as a builder for a green co-housing community in northern Virginia and as a developer on the Octagon, a LEED NC Silver building on New York City’s Roosevelt Island.Anne Sadovsky, Certified Speaking Professional, The National Speakers AssociationAnne is the owner of a Dallas-based marketing, consulting and seminar firm; she provides training, keynotes and counsel to a variety of industries, businesses and associations. In the multi-housing industry since 1968, Anne has been a guest on numerous radio and television talk shows, a contributing editor and featured writer for a variety of publications, and is often quoted in newspaper and magazine articles pertaining to the apartment industry. She was named one of the top trainers in the industry by Multi-Housing News. Multi Family Pro magazine and Sales and Marketing Magic Brainstorming Conference honored Anne with a Legends Award in 2005. Anne is affiliated with numerous business and professional organizations, including the National Speakers Association, where she holds the designation of Certified Speaking Professional. She has earned a Texas Real Estate license, and is a CAM, CAPS and RAM, along with many other designations and honorary positions in the industry. The Green Initiative Awards is the multifamily industry’s first competition recognizing eco-friendly products, services and corporate initiatives. The competition is also open to companies involved in mixed-use projects. Entries are due July 1.
