Orlando, Fla.—Inland American Communities Group Inc. (IAC), a subsidiary of Inland American Real Estate Trust Inc., has completed construction of the University House student residential community at the University of Central Florida. The community is already 100 percent pre-leased.

University House is a five-story, 416-unit/995-bed development scheduled to open later this month. It was designed to have great aesthetic appeal and to include an impressive array of amenities, which adds to the appeal of the off-campus community.

“University House was designed to provide a state-of-the-art living and learning environment for students,” Travis Roberts, president, IAC, tells MHN. “The variety of floor plans featured upscale finishes and a designer furniture line, as well as a flat-screen TV in each apartment. The preview two-story, four-bedroom townhome option featuring a spiral staircase was extremely popular.”

“The amenity areas were planned to be a higher caliber than other student communities,” Roberts continues. “The fitness center features integrated media and overlooks the spectacular pool area with the cabanas. The highlight of the poolside clubroom is the high-tech multi-screen TV wall. Beyond the design of the property, the University House management and events program follows the highest standards to ensure that the students will enjoy the best possible experience.”

Additional amenities include a putting green, tanning beds and controlled-access parking. The community is also located near the university and city shuttle systems.

IAC also made sure University House was green.

“The community was certified by Progress Energy Home Advantage Program,” Roberts says. “Each apartment includes GE Energy Star appliances and GE Energy Star front-load washers and dryers. University House also features energy-efficient heating and cooling systems and has a community recycling program.”

With the success of University House, IAC is hoping to continue its hot streak with its other residential communities.

“IAC is actively pursuing new development and acquisition opportunities in key markets nationwide—both on and off-campus,” Roberts says. “Our new residence hall and dining facility at Arizona State University’s Polytechnic campus opened this month. Also, construction is in progress on our new 1,200-bed mixed-use student apartment community, opening 2013 to serve students at California State University at Fullerton. University House Fullerton will feature 30,000 square feet of ground-floor retail.”

University House opens to residents later this month.

“IAC is excited to welcome all of our new residents to enjoy the state-of-the-art amenities, along with a top-quality environment for both living and learning,” David Pierce, senior vice president of development, IAC, said in a press statement.
