Hines has broken ground on the developer’s first residential project in Oklahoma City, a 326-unit luxury rental community, in partnership with Humphreys Capital. Initial sitework has begun on the five-story property at the Classen Curve shopping center, north of downtown, and the first move-ins are expected for early 2022.

The as-yet-unnamed project, which was announced last December, is located at 6161 N. Western Ave. in the city’s Nichols Hills submarket. Designed by Dwell Design Studio, the community will offer a mix of units ranging from studios to three-bedroom units with high-end finishes and fixtures. Amenities will include a heated pool, a private fitness center, a club room and multiple private outdoor courtyards.

Located 2.5 miles east of Lake Hefner, the community will have direct access to the lake’s bike trail. The adjacent Classen Curve center is anchored by a Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods, along with 15 restaurants and other retailers.

Hines already has a presence in Oklahoma City, where the global real estate powerhouse managed the development of the Devon Energy Corporation Headquarters, a 50-story downtown office tower that was built in 2012, and BOK Park Plaza at 499 Sheridan, a 27-story office tower completed in 2018.

Hines recently teamed up with Capitol Broadcasting Co. and USAA Real Estate for a 700,000-square-foot mixed-use project in downtown Durham, N.C., that will feature a 350-unit residential tower. Unveiled in July, the project is expected to break down in late 2021 or early 2022.
