Greystar Breaks Ground on Community Near Tesla HQ

Greystar Real Estate Partners LLC has broken ground on Interport, a 396-unit, garden-style multifamily development near Tesla’s Gigafactory and global headquarters in Austin, Texas. Completion is expected in early 2024.

The community will comprise studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom floorplans ranging from 609 to 1,948 square feet. Apartment interiors will feature stainless steel appliances and high-end finishes. Common-area amenities are slated to encompass a dog park, beer garden, swimming pool, pickle ball court and a fitness lawn. The property will also include a clubhouse, designed by Meeks Partners and Michael Hsu Office of Architecture, which will incorporate coworking spaces, two clubrooms and a fitness center.

Located within the Del Valle neighborhood at 11701 Dionda Lane, according to a Berkadia construction pipeline report, the site is close to Highway 71, placing it roughly 9 miles from downtown Austin. The 2,500-acre Tesla factory is within a mile of the property, while the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is roughly 2 miles away.

Greystar’s Director of Development Alex Perkins stated in prepared remarks that sustainability and abundant greenspace were significant drivers behind the design of the community. According to a recent Yardi Matrix report, metro Austin stood out from most of the nation’s metros, due to its growing supply pipeline. having 51,161 units under construction as of September 2022.
