Geis Development Starts Preleasing at Florida Community
First move-ins are anticipated in October.
Geis Development has started preleasing its 264-unit community in Fort Myers, Fla. The developer broke ground on The Centro Apartments in June 2022 and plans to have to project online in September. The resort-style multifamily complex’s first residents are expected to move in this October.
The Class A community will offer studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom units ranging from 572 to 1,391 square feet. The units will be built with kitchen islands, washer-and-dryer units and private balconies. The community’s amenities will include a two-story fitness center, outdoor bocce ball court, sand volleyball court, shuffleboard court, community fruit garden, movie theaters, hair salons and cornhole sets.
Located at 16909 Vintage Commerce Blvd., the property is an approximately 15-minute drive to downtown Fort Myers and attractions like Centennial Park and the IMAG History & Science Center. The community’s location next to Interstate 75 also allows for direct commutes to other Florida cities like St. Petersburg and Tampa. Conrad Geis, president of Geis Development, told Multi-Housing News that the community has received a lot of interest from both individuals and from large corporations seeking groups of units to accommodate employees or transient guests.
Southwest Florida presence
Along with The Centro Apartments, Geis Development is also working on a 500,000-square-foot speculative distribution center and warehouse complex called Legacy 500K that is located near its recent residential project. The company is also working on a four-building business park near the Southwest Florida International Airport, also in Fort Myers.
Geis Development first began building out its footprint in southwest Florida in the 1980s, starting with the Airport Woods Commerce Center Industrial Park. The company’s portfolio of current projects includes industrial and multifamily properties, including The Abbey, a 142-unit apartment building in Ohio, and The Calabash Shores, a 132-unit community in Calabash, N.C.
