Fulton Hill Properties celebrated the groundbreaking of its $30 million development in Richmond’s Fulton Hill neighborhood. A ceremony was held, attended by Richmond’s Mayor, Levar Stoney, Councilwoman Cynthia Newbille, Chief Administrative Officer Selena Cuffee Glenn, Deputy Chief Administrative Officer Lee Downey, among other locals.

Artisan Hill is located at 1000 Carlisle Ave. The community will comprise 204 one-, two- and three-bedroom units, 11 artist studios, a café, a lap pool, fitness facility and a rooftop deck. Residents will be able to enjoy the multiple parks nearby, as well as the Virginia Capital Bike Trail. Local dining and shopping options are also within easy reach, while downtown Richmond is only ten minutes away.

How wonderful to finally be constructing market rate and workforce housing in Greater Fulton alongside a mixture of uses including artist studios, a market café, and offices. This part of the city is a great mix of urban living with nature all around,” said Margaret Freund, founder & president of Fulton Hill Properties, in a prepared statement.

The Richmond apartment market is currently experiencing slow but steady growth, with many large projects in the pipeline. Fulton Hill Properties has set out to revitalize the neighborhood where Artisan Hill will be located. The Robert Fulton School was purchased by Fulton Hill Properties in 1997 and was transformed into an arts studio named Fulton Hill Studios. Currently, the building is undergoing renovations, as part of the larger construction project and will continue to serve as a gathering space for artists. Artisan Hill is slated for completion in 2019.
