Affordable Community Debuts North of Las Vegas
Hafen Village comprises 96 units for low-income residents.
Nevada Rural Housing Authority has opened Hafen Village Apartments, a 96-unit fully affordable housing community in Mesquite, Nev. The new development will serve low-income families or individuals.

The developer—and other partners involved in the project—broke ground on Hafen Village Apartments back in November 2022. B&H Construction served as the general contractor. Bluebird Properties, which is part of NRHA, will manage the community.
The Hafen Village project represents a collaboration between multiple municipalities, developers and investors. The First Baptist Church procured the site at Hafen Lane from the City of Mesquite, as reported by Mesa Valley’s Progress.
Nevada Housing Division provided funding through National Housing Trust Funds and low-income housing tax credits—with Wells Fargo serving as the investor—totaling approximately $26 million in equity, according to Nevada Housing Division. The financing for the project also includes HOME funds provided by the municipality and 25 project-based vouchers from the Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority.
Some of the private-public financing provided for the development of the project includes a $900,000 affordable housing grant from the FHLBank San Francisco.
Hafen Village Apartments will comprise 24 one-bedroom, 64 two-bedroom and eight three-bedroom apartments. Common-area amenities include a clubhouse, a playground, a dog park and barbecue areas.
Located at 850 W. Hafen Lane, the 5-acre site is just west of the Mesquite Veterans Center and the First Baptist Church building. The community is close to Interstate 15, which allows easy access to downtown Las Vegas.
