The 71-unit Gateway North is being developed by Hub Holdings and the Lynn Housing Authority & Neighborhood Development.

gateway_620x350Lynn, Mass.—Gateway North, a new apartment community on Washington St. in Lynn, Mass., has broken ground. The property has the distinction of being the first funded under MassHousing’s $100 million Workforce Housing Initiative, which was announced in May 2016.

The 71-unit Gateway North is being developed by Hub Holdings LLC, and the Lynn Housing Authority & Neighborhood Development. The property is being designed by The Architectural Team Inc.

The developer’s aim is for Gateway North to provide high-quality housing close to transportation for low- and middle-income households. That conforms to the intention of the program, which targets housing for individuals and families with incomes between 61 percent and 120 percent of area median income, and provide subsidies to create 1,000 new units of workforce housing statewide.

Gateway North will be five floors high and have 18 one-bedroom units, 46 two-bedrooms units and seven three-bedrooms units. Construction is expected to be completed in the spring of 2018.

The project is a transit-oriented development that was created in response to the Washington District Master Plan, initiated by Lynn Housing and Neighborhood Development, funded by the state Department of Housing and Community Development, and executed by Sasaki Associates. Lynn Housing and Neighborhood Development will manage the development upon completion.
