NHP Foundation’s Mecky Adnani makes the case for a better funding system in the latest “Mission Success: Women in Multifamily” podcast.
For NHP Foundation Senior Vice President Mecky Adnani, affordable housing was her calling. She wanted to be in the driver’s seat as an affordable housing developer, so after taking her master’s degree in real estate development from MIT, she worked her way up to an executive-level position. Only 9 percent of C-suite positions in commercial real estate are held by women, and Adnani is part of that percentage.
Along the way, her mentors taught her how to be an active listener and stay open to constructive criticism and change. She learned that building trust and being an effective communicator are instrumental to the success of any negotiation in real estate and now she’s working alongside a team of six female affordable housing developers to close some of the largest, most complex housing deals at NHPF.
