Fairfax County, Va. Honors Home Properties for Commitment to ‘Green’ Construction
The Fairfax County Department of Public Works and Environmental Services has presented a Land Conservation Award to the newly constructed apartment community, The Courts at Huntington Station in Alexandria, Va., owned by Home Properties, Inc.

Vienna, Va.–The Fairfax County Department of Public Works and Environmental Services has presented a Land Conservation Award to the newly constructed apartment community, The Courts at Huntington Station in Alexandria, Va., owned by Home Properties, Inc.
Slated to open for apartment rentals in April 2010, The Courts at Huntington Station has been honored by Fairfax County, in cooperation with the Northern Virginia Soil and Water Conservation District and the Fairfax Tree Commission, for its efforts to promote best practices in both erosion prevention and sedimentation control throughout the construction process. The Home Properties apartment community was nominated by the county’s construction site inspector and presented with the award following a comprehensive site tour by county officials.

“Home Properties built The Courts at Huntington Station with the intent of remaining good stewards of the existing environment,” says Donald R. Hague, senior vice President of development for Home Properties. “We are avoiding any damage to surrounding natural elements, preventing erosion and continually reaching out to our neighbors – assuring them their quality of life will not be disturbed by this project.”
