Equity Finishes Redevelopment Work on Suburban DC Apartments
Equity Residential has completed work on 4701 Willard, an apartment community in Chevy Chase, a Maryland suburb of Washington, D.C.

Chevy Chase, Md.—Equity Residential has completed work on 4701 Willard, an apartment community in Chevy Chase, a Maryland suburb of Washington, D.C. The property has opened its doors after undergoing a multi-million-dollar renovation that revamped the property’s units, and added new amenities.
Equity bought the property, when it was known as The Irene, from Irene Pollin for more than $209 million in 2012. Her husband, the late developer and Washington Wizards owner Abe Pollin, originally developed the property.
4701 Willard’s new amenities include a 3,475-square-foot fitness center and yoga room where customized lessons and programming will be available; a pet spa; and a 3,000-square-foot lounge with a balcony overlooking a wooded outdoor area. The lounge also features a variety of seating areas for a range of activities, such as socializing or solo study with a laptop, and a fully equipped kitchen and dining area. There will also soon be a children’s playroom.
The property now has one of the area’s largest rooftop terraces, which features two pools, a tennis court, a “campfire” area and a series of seating areas. The site offers views of Maryland, Virginia and the District with retro viewfinders.
All of the refurbished units feature high-end finishes, including granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and wood flooring. Studios start at about $1,600, while three-bedroom units run about $3,600. The property is within walking distance of the Friendship Heights Metro station
