Encore Capital Unveils $350M Project Name

One of the nation’s largest live-work-play campuses will include 700 luxury apartments plus office, retail and hotel components.

Plantation, Fla.—Encore Capital Management has named its $350 million mixed-use project in Plantation, Fla., Plantation Walk. What was once known as Fashion Mall, will now be revamped into a retail, residential, office and hotel destination for Broward County. Full completion of the project is set for summer 2018.

“A mixed-use project of this magnitude will bring a dynamic in-town pedestrian lifestyle to a primarily suburban part of Broward County,” Arthur Falcone, CEO & managing principal of Encore Capital Management, told Multi-Housing News. “Plantation Walk’s many gathering spaces will help foster a sense of community for its residents, employees and visitors.”

Located on University Drive and north of Broward Boulevard, the project is set to be one of the largest live-work-play campuses in the county. The 32-acre property will include 700 luxury apartments under Encore’s The Rise apartment brand, 200,000 square feet of shop and dining space, new structured parking and an already existing 263-key Sheraton Hotel and 160,000-square-foot Class A office building, which will be welcoming tenants in December 2017. Both the hotel and office are currently being remodeled. The campus will also feature outdoor seating, walkways and green spaces. Plantation Walk is located 10 miles from Fort Lauderdale and 30 miles from downtown Miami.

“We are thrilled with the proposed redevelopment of the Fashion Mall property. It is long overdue and one of the most eagerly anticipated projects in the city’s history,” said Plantation Mayor Diane Veltri Bendekovic. “Plantation is one of the few cities in Broward County that has shown consistent, year-over-year increases in property values and this will help increase our tax base and boost our economy even further. The jobs the project will bring to the city, both short-term and long, will have far-reaching effects upon other businesses in the area, further enhancing their bottom line as well.”
