In a single stroke, New York-based Gerson Lehrman Group Inc. has nearly doubled its Silicon Hills footprint. The New York City-based professional education firm just inked a ten-year lease for 41,803 square feet at 301 Congress Ave. in downtown Austin.
GLG already occupies 24,279 square feet in the recently renovated building owned by CommonWealth Partners. Some 300 employees work there today, and the expansion should accommodate another 400 during the next few years.
GLG will occupy the building’s fifteenth and sixteenth floors, which will be connected by a large atrium with a central staircase. Clive Wilkinson, the award-winning architect for firm’s headquarters in New York City, will design the space. His concept steers away from assigned workspaces and emphasizes flexibility. Employees will be able to choose from several types of meeting and collaboration spaces, conference and training spaces, as well as a staffed coffee bar.
“GLG Austin will share a thematic aesthetic and operational sensibility with GLG’s New York office, while embracing unique local resources, materials, and craftsmanship,” said Clive Wilkinson, president & design director of the architectural firm, in a statement. “The office will feel both viscerally connected to GLG’s headquarters and distinctly Austin.”
GLG will complete the build and move by July 2016. CWA will be supported by local architects STG Design led by PollyAnna Little, and Todd Tebbe of Aquila Commercial will manage the project for GLG.
