Doster Construction Breaks Ground on Florida Mixed-Use Project

The $60 million development will be part of a master-planned community encompassing more than 200 single-family homes and neighborhood retail.

Ground has been broken on a new apartment community that will be part of the master-planned, mixed-use community Pathstone in Pensacola, Fla. Doster Construction Co. is building the luxury, 336-unit property on behalf of Daniel, a Sunbelt-region real estate development, management and investment firm. The asset is located on Nine Mile Road, directly across the street from the Pensacola campus of Navy Federal Credit Union. 

The $60 million, four-story community designed by Nelson Architects will be part of a master-planned community encompassing more than 200 single-family homes and 75,000 square feet of neighborhood retail. First move-ins are slated for autumn of next year.

The COVID-19 pandemic is not expected to present a significant challenge to the construction process. “Doster has COVID-19 policies and procedures in place to ensure the safety of the entire team during the pandemic,” Alan Chandler, Doster executive vice president, told Multi-Housing News.

“Some safety measures implemented on our job sites include limiting meeting sizes, utilizing virtual meetings, frequently sanitizing high-touch areas, hand-washing stations and the use of masks. Daniel did an excellent job navigating the issues presented to them in 2020 as they were preparing to get this project going.”

Last month, Campus Life & Style was named to manage a portfolio of student housing communities, including one in Pensacola.

Steps to retail

The location of the apartment community will put future residents near the University of West Florida and Pensacola State College, within walking distance of dining, services and retail, and about 25 minutes drive from Pensacola Beach and Naval Station Pensacola.

“Doster’s preconstruction services are set up to deliver predictable outcomes through detailed planning and guidance to our clients,” Chandler said. “This was an important part of this client’s selection criteria.”
