Delta Associates Hires Senior VP

Washington, D.C.—Delta Associates announced that David Versel, AICP, has joined the firm as senior vice president. Versel will participate in all areas of Delta’s consulting and publications practice.

Versel has nearly 20 years of experience in the real estate and urban development fields, serving most recently as senior research associate for the Center for Regional Analysis (CRA) at George Mason University. In this role, Versel has been recognized as a leading expert on matters related to the regional economy, residential and commercial real estate, and public policy issues in the Washington, D.C., metro area. He authored several major studies on commercial real estate, housing and economic development issues and has been a frequent speaker on these and other topics.

“The primary public policy challenge for commercial real estate will be to overcome opposition to higher density and infill development in areas ripe for revitalization,” Versel told MHN. “On the market side, the key variable will be where and how Millennials choose to live once they have children.”

In previous positions, Versel served as the executive director of the Southeast Fairfax Development Corporation. He founded and was principal of Devonomics, a national real estate and land use economics consulting firm. He also worked as senior planner for the Southern Maine Regional Planning Commission; as an associate with Economics Research Associates, an international land use economics consulting firm (later acquired by AECOM); and as an associate with Haddow & Company, a regional real estate consulting firm in Atlanta.

Versel received a Master of City Planning degree from The Georgia Institute of Technology, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in architecture from Washington University. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners, and the American Planning Association.

“I’m excited about being directly involved in the planning of innovative multifamily and mixed-use developments,” Versel said.
