CB001-44_Neutral_CS4957Furniture for senior living has a bevy of inherent challenges in its design when it comes to pieces for the residents themselves, including ergonomics, medical needs and ease of use and maintenance for staff. However, not many designers consider the needs of visiting family, friends, or round-the-clock caregivers.

Flexsteel, a company that produces furniture for the hospitality, healthcare, office and senior living sectors, has taken into account the needs of senior living residents to have friends and family visit or have overnight medical supervision. The company’s collection of senior living sleepers feature both chairs and sofas that function as lounge furniture during the day and a single or double bed at night.

With supportive mattresses built in and commercial-grade operating mechanisms, the collection of sleepers are both comfortable to sit and sleep on while durable enough to take the wear and tear of commercial use. All the pieces are built to specification in-house upon ordering, so customization is an easy part of the process. Flexsteel offers standard, premium and custom finishes for all exposed wood that ranges from light “tusk” to dark “roast” colors.

Anti-microbial, bleach cleanable fabrics in a variety of colors and textures, including leather, recycled and organic are available for all sleepers.
