Houston—Ground has been broken on Alta Westheimer, a 133-unit luxury apartment community in west Houston. Developer Wood Partners reports the 119,000-square-foot property will spread across three acres at 9235 Westheimer Rd., near Terry Hershey Park, major local employers and shopping centers.

“There is an incredible amount of new office construction occurring and planned for the Westchase District, the Galleria and the Energy Corridor, which is in large part a response to the growth of the oil and gas companies that are located there,” Wood Partners’ South Texas Director Todd Gaines tells MHN. “This is creating high demand for new multifamily units, as these markets are currently well occupied. We expect our project to meet some of that demand, as it is well located and easily accessible to all three markets.”

Designed by Good, Fulton & Farrell, the apartment community will offer 15 studio apartments, as well as 84 one-bedroom and 34 two-bedroom units, and will also provide188 parking spaces. Among the upscale features and finishes of the apartments will be stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, subway tile backsplashes, vinyl plank flooring and washers and dryers. Some of the floor plans will also feature garages.

The luxury amenity package includes a clubroom, fitness center, pool and outdoor kitchen area. Common areas of the property will offer wireless connectivity and the most up-to-date audio-visual technology.

“So far, we’ve been very fortunate,” Gaines says of progress on the community. “The project has gone smoothly, which is in large part attributable to the hard work of our design team, and the support of our capital partners.”

Residents of Alta Westheimer will benefit from quick and convenient commutes to a number of prime area employers, among them Phillips 66, Chevron, Halliburton, BP, Shell and Exxon.

Also nearby are high-end shopping centers The Galleria and CityCentre, as well as Terry Hershey Park, where expanded bike trails will permit residents to bicycle across the park to oil company offices around Eldridge Pkwy.

Just a few miles away is Memorial Park Golf Course, one of the highest-rated municipal golf courses in the United States.

“We strive to provide great value to our customers. To me, that means providing an attractive, enjoyable living space, great amenities, and best-in-class service from our management team at a competitive rate,” says Gaines. “We’re certain the strong location, with great access and short commutes to jobs in the Westchase District, Energy Corridor and The Galleria, will be a major draw for prospective tenants.”

The general contractor on Alta Wesheimer is Westheimer Builders LLC, and the project’s equity partner is Westplan Investors. The project is expected to be complete in time to begin leasing in April of next year.
