Madison, Ala.—Cobalt Seniors and Shepherd Health are planning to develop an upscale 124-resident community near Huntsville, Ala., called Shepherd Living at The Range.
Spread across 14 acres in the growing Huntsville suburb of Madison, Shepherd Living at The Range will offer the spa-like way of life called Shepherd Living. Residents will savor gourmet farm-to-table food, fine wine storage, a full-service salon, a greenhouse and abundant opportunities to engage in gardening. Private kitchens, animal therapy, extensive walking trails and landscaping throughout the large grounds will also be featured. Residents will be able to drop by a tavern to watch University of Alabama Crimson Tide football games.
A daily class schedule will enhance the wellness lifestyle. Classes will include meditation, gentle yoga, aerobics and circuit training.
Shepherd Living at The Range will welcome the larger 65-plus community to its state-of-the-art spa and wellness center, where they’ll be able to access both traditional and Ayurvedic massage, as well as a thermal experience that will include a Laconium room, a thermal pool, heated loungers and a Finnish sauna. A fully outfitted gym includes an exterior plunge pool.
On-site physical therapy and other rehabilitation services will be among the medical services offered to both residents and the broader Madison senior community.
“Our communities are state of the art, harmonizing technology and wellness in a way never seen before,” said Christine Menedis, co-founder & CEO of Shepherd Health. “The best tech is seamless. It should anticipate your desires and enhance your experiences. For our residents and their families, that translates into entertainment, HIPAA-compliant health record access and, most important, visibility and peace of mind for families, which can see exactly how Mom or Dad is doing on any given day.”
Added Erik de Vries, Cobalt principal & president: “Cobalt has become synonymous with cutting-edge, quality healthcare. We are excited to bring that same level of care to senior living in Madison. Shepherd Living at The Range is going to be a dynamic, thriving addition to the community.”
The joint venture acquired the property from NitNeil Partners. It is developing the community in conjunction with architectural firm Erdman, Redstone Federal Credit Union and contractor DeAngelis Diamond.
During construction, the project will be responsible for adding 200 area jobs. Once work is done, the development’s permanent operations will mean an additional 65-plus jobs.
Shepherd will hire health and wellness experts, caregivers and administrative and business staff. Also hired will be food service workers and grounds maintenance employees. The community will be managed by Shepherd Senior Living.
“We don’t deteriorate as we age. If anything, our intellect, sense of humor and desire to engage with family and our communities are only enhanced,” observed Shepherd Senior Living CEO Joseph Jasmon. “Shepherd Living honors that – creating spaces that are, quite simply, joyful, carefree versions of life as it has always been.”
