CAS Riegler Helps Transform DC’s Logan Circle
The HOLM, a 38-unit luxury apartment building, opened up in an evolving D.C. neighborhood.
Washington, D.C.—CAS Riegler recently completed construction of HOLM, a 38-unit luxury apartment building. The newly-opened property at 1550 11th St. continues the transformation of D.C.’s Logan Circle neighborhood.
The four-story structure includes approximately 3,000 square feet of street-level retail space that is rumored to be the site of a highly anticipated restaurant.
HOLM’s unique and modern features include a rooftop penthouse with an open roof deck and catering kitchen, while each duplex penthouse has its own studio space opening to a private deck area. Almost every one-, two- and three-bedroom apartment has private terraces or balconies, and residents of the English basement units will have private entrances.
Hickok Cole, the architect on the project, blended the building with its surroundings. Residents and guests can look over the historic houses and church spires of Shaw and Logan Circle to see the Washington Monument and the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.
The exterior architectural steel staircase will be adorned with a “living wall” of plants, while the outdoor common areas and private courtyard are paved with greenery. An extensive roof covers the access-controlled, below-grade parking garage for 14 cars along with bicycle storage.
HOLM’s modern interiors are designed for functionality and use of space. Custom built-in wardrobes, European frame-less cabinetry, in-wall USB outlets and Nest learning thermostats are just some of the included designs. Expansive windows and open-air corridors maximize natural day lighting in every apartment. Spa-style bathrooms offer serene showers and/or soaking tubs, along with European floating vanities, custom mirrors, square under-mount Kohler Vigo sinks and water-conserving dual-flush Porcelanosa toilets flourish the units’ bathrooms. Kitchens have stainless steel appliances, sleek cabinetry and Grohe faucets.
The community is pet-friendly and is situated right across the street from Shaw Dog Park, a 15,000-square-foot, fenced-in off-leash park. The park offers a small enclosure for dogs less than 25 pounds, physically challenged dogs, and senior dogs, and a larger, more active play area for ball tossing and running. Adjacent to the dog park is a recreation center and children’s playground.
“HOLM’s sustainable, forward-thinking design will appeal to trend-setting residents who already live in the immediate area and want to stay, but are ready for a more refined design aesthetic and a location that allows them to take advantage of all the great neighborhood amenities without being surrounded by more than 200 other tenants,” said C. Adam Stifel, principal, CAS Riegler.
HOLM’s location provides easy access to Metrorail and a huge variety of popular dining and entertainment destinations including Dacha Beer Garden, Thally, Seasonal Pantry, Sundevich, Table, Rogue 24, Baby Wale, and many more. Whole Foods is three blocks away and other nearby estasblishments include CrossFit Balance, VIDA Fitness, CVS, Giant at O Street Market, Trader Joe’s, Studio Theatre, Howard Theater, the 9:30 Club and the Black Cat.
