Carnegie Launches Thermoplastic Wallcovering Collection

Designers looking for durable and aesthetically pleasing wall coverings have traditionally turned to vinyl. While polyvinyl chloride (PVC) coverings resist mold and are easy to clean, the material presents a number of health and environmental concerns. Carnegie has come up with a solution via its PVC-free thermoplastic wallcoverings.

LITHOGRAPHY

The new line utilizes Thermoplastic Olefin technology that yields the performance and ease of cleaning without the concerns of PVC’s chlorine chemistry. The material is composed of 90 percent Thermoplastic Olefin (TPO) and 10 percent post consumer glass. This allows the collection to meet or exceed the durability and cleanability of Type II vinyl. In addition, it boasts environment attributes like lower-energy use during manufacture, extremely low VOCs, and zero chlorine, formaldehyde, heavy metals and ozone depleting chemicals.

But now on to the design element. Carnegie TPO wallcoverings utilize graphics and textures, with four designs in 22 colors. Some highlights include META, which offers simple graphic lines; medium scale and geometric LITHOGRAPH; the subtle woven overlain colors of CROSSHATCH; and FLAX, a woven grass cloth that evokes casual elegance.
