Candlebrook Introduces 251 DEKALB in King of Prussia, Pa.

New York—New York-based owner and operator Candlebrook Properties has unveiled a new amenities-rich luxury redevelopment in the Philadelphia suburb of King of Prussia, Pa. Residents have already begun occupying the units, and the 641-unit community is scheduled to be completed through various phases through 2016.

“King of Prussia is an extraordinary hub of commercial and retail activity in the heart of Philadelphia’s affluent Main Line, yet it currently lacks high-en rental apartment options,” says Candlebrook Properties’ CEO, Neil Rubler. “We’re creating a new strata of luxury living in a market that demands it, and offering the highest standards of design to a city that is steeped in the tradition of its art and aesthetics.”

Residences at 251 DEKALB include an assortment of luxury finishes and architectural details including wide plank flooring, modern European open kitchens with custom fixtures, cabinetry and stainless steel appliances, and European bathrooms. Other elements include in-unit washer and dryer, custom designed tech bars, Bluetooth controlled apartment locks, in-unit Wi-Fi and floor-to-ceiling windows that offer views of Upper Merion and the Main Line.

In addition to 24/7 concierge services, residents can enjoy access to the community’s 251 Club—an exclusive amenities suite that includes a fitness center by Technogym, a library lounge, curated art displays, a new pool with sundeck and barbecue, bocce ball courts and a dog court. Additionally, the community will include Kidville, which provides children’s enrichment classes, birthday parties and a custom play space for children.

Varenhorst Architects, led by Stephen Varenhorst, served as the architect of record for the project and David Rubin of Land Collective was in charge of the landscape design.

“What were once discreet buildings originally constructed in the 1960s are now expressive pieces of modern architecture inspired by distinctive periods of art and design,” Varenhorst says. “251 DEKALB is the product of a collaborative vision that brings a new level of rental housing to King of Prussia during its exciting period of economic growth.”

Candlebrook aimed to provide several sustainable elements to the development, one of which includes a community garden for residents to grow their own vegetables.

“It has been our intent from the inception of this project to rejuvenate an environment of engagement and community, one that fits holistically within the fabric of the neighborhood,” Rubin says. “The landscape of 251 DEKALB will unify the refurbished buildings in the modernist traditions of a common plane. It is the composition of the connective tissue in which the community will engage with each other.”
