Campus Advantage has expanded its student housing management portfolio by securing a new assignment in the Southeast. The company was tapped to manage Taylor Bend, a 288-bedroom community serving students at the University of Mississippi in Oxford, Miss.

According to Yardi Matrix, Nelson Partners acquired the property from The Carlyle Group in 2015. Taylor Bend’s occupancy rate ahead of the 2021 fall semester reached 42 percent, the data provider shows.

In August, the property owner filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy shortly before an auction where the property had been listed, The Oxford Eagle reported at the time.

Located at 2493 Old Taylor Road, within a mile of the University of Mississippi campus, the multifamily property houses primarily student residents. The 2012-built community offers 96 three-bedroom apartments across eight buildings, with floorplates averaging 1,400 square feet. Common amenities include a swimming pool, patio, gym and free parking area.

Campus Advantage has nearly 50 student communities under management. In October, the company took over The Cambridge at College Station, a 522-bed property in College Station, Texas.

In June, Lindsay Brown, senior vice president of leasing and marketing at Campus Advantage, talked to Multi-Housing News about the shifts in campus marketing and management brought on by the pandemic.
