Washington, D.C.—Camden Property Trust has opened Camden South Capitol, a 276-unit high-end apartment community in the Washington, D.C., market.

“If you look at the site itself, it’s in an amazing location. It’s right across the street from the Ballpark and while it’s not part of the riverfront, it’s only a few blocks away,” Richard Key, Camden Property Trust’s regional vice president, tells MHN. “It certainly adds a lot to the area.”

Located at 1345 S Capitol St. SW, the apartment community sits across from Nationals Park, with the Navy Yard Metro Station and The Yards entertainment district just blocks away.

“It has great views and you can see into the stadium from it,” Key says. “In terms of walkability, it’s right around everything and has great views of the Capitol and the waterfront.”

Camden South Capitol offers modern finishes, inspired layouts and incredible views just steps from the Metro. Apartments will feature chef-inspired kitchens with stainless steel appliances, Silestone countertops, designer track and pendant lighting and contemporary fixtures.

According to Key, little details that make a big difference are custom features including built-in surround sound system, dimmer switches, full-size washer and dryer and solar shades on all windows.

Community wide amenities include a 24-hour concierge service, expansive fitness studio and rooftop pool lounge with stunning views of the Capitol and the Anacostia River, plus a business center with IMAX and PCs.

“We were also able to get a second piece of land that’s right next to the property and we’re going to use it to make a dog park so owners can take their pets,” Key says. “It’s also the first no-smoke building on the East Coast and that’s the newest trend out there.”

Rents range from $1,288 per month for the smallest studio to $3,225 per month for the larger two-bedroom, two-bath residence. Construction of Camden South Capitol took 22 months and the community was completed several months ahead of schedule.

Applications for residency began on April 10 and move-ins will begin on May 1.

Camden Property Trust owns interests in and operates 192 properties containing 65,005 apartment homes across the United States. Upon completion of nine properties under development, the company’s portfolio will increase to 67,850 apartment homes in 201 properties.
