ButterflyMX Lands Growth Equity Investment

FTV Capital’s investment will accelerate new product development in the company while aiding in multifamily property access and security.

ButterflyMX, a cloud-based property access platform serving multifamily and commercial real estate, has landed a growth equity investment from FTV Capital. The capital will enable ButterflyMX to expand into new markets, speed up its new product offerings and allow the company to further itself as a provider of property access control and security solutions.

Founded almost 10 years ago, ButterflyMX provides an access management and security platform that aids multifamily in delivering better experiences while driving revenue and saving money. On a daily basis, some 17,000 buildings and 1.5 million people use the product.

The company’s suite of software-enabled, property-wide services include video intercoms, access control systems, front desk management and security cameras. Its products are aimed at assisting property owners and managers in increasing revenue, enhancing security, enabling remote property access, automating building operations and improving the overall multifamily and commercial user experience.

As part of the deal, FTV Capital’s Aaron Rudenstine, CEO, Richard Liu, partner, and Chris McPherson, vice president, will join ButterflyMX’s board of directors. Also part of the co-investors for this round of funding are Lead Edge Capital and Fifth Wall. Existing investors JMI Equity and Volition Capital are set to maintain their positions on ButterflyMX’s board of directors.

ButterflyMX’s financial advisor on the deal was Raymond James while Houlihan Lokey was FTV Capital’s financial advisor.
