Town 316

The town of Matthews, N.C. could soon gain two new apartment complexes in the downtown core. According to papers filed with the Mathews Planning and Development Department, BrookeChase Properties LLC is eyeing downtown Matthews for two 24-unit apartment buildings.  However, both sites will have to be rezoned from single family residential to commercial and multifamily to accommodate the proposed projects. The developments will target singles, empty nesters and nontraditional families according to the Matthews-Mint Hill Weekly.

One of the proposed projects, Town 316, would rise at the corner Matthews Station Street Extension and East Matthews Street on a lot a little over 0.5 acres in size. The project will consist of a 24-unit, three-story  apartment building, a pocket park open to the public, 21 onsite parking spaces, eight on-street spaces and four bicycle parking spots.  The project will feature one-bedroom apartments ranging between 659 and 780 square feet.

Matthews Lofts II

BrookeChase Properties’ other proposed project is Matthews Lofts II, a three-story apartment development planned for the corner of Ames Street and Park Center Drive. The 24-unit project will also feature 22 on-site and 12 on-street parking spaces and 4 bike parking spots. Similarly to Town 316, Matthews Loft II will comprise only one-bedroom units. They will  offer 720 or 733 square feet of space.

Matthews Lofts II is regarded as a key piece in the continuation of North End/Matthews Gateway/Matthews Parkway Corporate Center area that is reshaping Matthews. Matthews Gateway is a mixed-use development by BrookeChase Properties, featuring 22,285 square feet of retail, restaurant and office space, 8,520 square feet of medical space and the 54-unit Matthews Lofts I.

Both projects have local firm Urban Architectural Group PA on the development team.
