Brinshore, McShane Bring Affordable Housing to Chicago’s West Elsdon
Brinshore Development is partnering with McShane Construction Co. to bring 78 affordable housing units to South Side Chicago.

Chicago—Brinshore Development has selected McShane Construction Co. to develop a 78-unit affordable housing community within the West Elsdon, Back of the Yards neighborhood in Chicago’s southwest side.
The multi-phase construction of Park Place, a 14-building residential development at the intersection of 50th Street and Lawndale Avenue, began in November 2015 and is scheduled for completion in the second quarter of 2017.
Located less than one mile away from both the Pulaski and Kedzie CTA Orange Line stations, Park Place will provide easy access to the city of Chicago and the Midway International Airport. Designed by Landon Bone Baker Architects, the community will incorporate 14 three-story buildings, featuring 15 one-, 42 two-, and 21 three-bedroom rental apartment units. Amenities at the site will include a community room, computer lab, fitness center, on-site management, a landscaped park, community garden and tot lot, among others. All sitework, including paved roads, sidewalks and alleys will be developed by McShane Construction.

Park Place was designed to achieve ENERGY STAR certification for incorporating a number of sustainable features, such as a green roof, energy-efficient appliances, high-insulation windows, rain gardens, and permeable pavement. The exterior of the buildings will feature masonry and fiber cement together with decorative cast stone custom panels at entryways and window lines.
Funding for the project is coming from a variety of sources, including the City of Chicago. The Back of the Yards Neighborhood Council will provide social and programming services for residents at Park Place.
