HDG delivers high-end design for Washington, D.C. apartment community

Washington, D.C.Hartman Design Group (HDG) has completed a model two-bedroom, 2-1/2-bath apartment commissioned by Bozzuto Management for The Woodley, a Washington, D.C. luxury apartment community.

The Woodley was designed to reflect the discerning tastes of the Woodley Park neighborhood surrounding the development. Featuring an open floor plan, the staged apartment offers an eclectic blend of modern and traditional design.

“Bozzuto needed a design that would resonate with the high-end lifestyle of their resident base for The Woodley, a grand, luxury apartment building in Washington D.C., located off of Connecticut Avenue,” Rockville, Md.-based HDG president Phyllis Harman told MHN.

“HDG has a long-standing relationship with Bozzuto, so they knew we were uniquely qualified to create a high-end, elegant, timeless model home that reflected both the building image and the prospect’s lifestyle.”

Using a soft color palette featuring neutrals and blues, HDG’s team created a lavish, intimate space. It juxtaposes linen and velvet, as well as intermingling fine woods with rustic finishes.  The apartment features soaring nine-foot ceilings and state-of-the-art gourmet kitchen with sophisticated granite countertops and lacquered wood kitchen and bathroom cabinetry.

Hartman explained that The Woodley was completed late last year by JBG and then was immediately sold to new owners. Bozzuto Management was brought on board to market and lease the property.

“With rents at the top of the market, they needed the best marketing tools possible, so our challenge was to create a model home within budget and under a tight deadline that would appeal to the high-end lifestyle of their resident base,” Hartman said.  “The builder provided various exclusively crafted, high-end elements including a beautiful transitional kitchen and bath.

“Our concept was to accentuate the builder’s finishes and fixtures while creating a lifestyle environment that is elegant, eclectic and comfortable.”

It was also important the model appeal to a broad range of aesthetic preferences, Hartman said.  That’s because the local resident base encompasses a wide age range of people, from young professionals in their late twenties to empty nesters, and upper echelon executives to diplomats.

Hartman noted that HDG-designed unit and the building itself reflect a continuing trend in multifamily living.  “This model designed by our team represents the tastes and lifestyle of a very educated and sophisticated renter,” she said.

“Particularly in urban areas, we continually see the ever-growing market trend of ‘renters by choice.’  These renters can well afford to buy a place of their own, but instead choose to rent.  Searching for a simple lifestyle that allows flexibility to close the door and travel without worry, these renters desire the services and amenities that would be provided in a fine hotel or luxury apartment such as The Woodley.”
