Bonaventure JV Opens Norfolk Senior Living Community

A partnership between Senior Lifestyle Corp. and Bonaventure has celebrated the grand opening of Acclaim at East Beach, a 132-unit luxury senior housing community in Norfolk, Va. The independent living property will serve residents aged 62 and over.
In November 2019, the developers obtained $27.5 million in mortgage financing for the property from Walker & Dunlop, Norfolk City County data shows. The architect of the project is J. Price Architecture, while Bonaventure Construction served as general contractor.
Construction is anticipated to begin shortly on the second phase of the senior housing project, which will include assisted living and memory care components.
Located at 4801 Pretty Lake Ave., the property features studios as well as one- and two-bedroom units. Floorplans range between 575 and 1,133 square feet. Community amenities include an art studio, a theater, a game room, a salon and spa, a gazebo, a greenhouse, outside dining spots, a bocce ball court and a promenade.
Acclaim at East Beach is part of The Little Creek Marina, a deep-water marina on Chesapeake Bay. The property is within 4 miles of the Norfolk Botanical Garden, Northampton Boulevard retail corridor and Norfolk International Airport. Downtown Norfolk is within roughly 12 miles southeast of the community.
In April, Bonaventure began preleasing another Virginia community. The garden-style community in Fredericksburg, Va., provides 200 market-rate units.
