Tucson, Ariz.—Beal Derkenne Construction (BDC), a full-service construction firm, has started construction on Park Avenue, in Tucson, Ariz. This will be BDC’s third student housing project within the last 18 months.

Park Avenue, which is located close to the University of Arizona in Tucson, will include 163 apartments. The community will include 13 stories above ground, and two stories below ground. “[This] is very rare in Arizona,” Michael Derkenne, owner and co-founder, BDC, tells MHN.

Amenities for the community include a full-service amenity deck on the 10th floor with an exterior pool and spa. Additionally, the ground floor of Park Avenue will include 9,000 square feet of retail space.

According to Derkenne, residents of the community will also be close to transportation.

“A new streetcar project was recently installed just down the street,” he says.

The project is expected to be completed in August 2014.

“Beal Derkenne Construction is looking forward to working closely with the architect Shepley Bulfinch and Campus Acquisitions, the client, to ensure that every single aspect of the project is executed with the work approach BDC is known for,” Derkenne says.
