Urbana, Ill.—The Bainbridge Cos. has tapped McShane Construction Co. to build Campus Circle-Urbana, a new student housing project adjacent to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign campus. The five-story, 524-bed apartment community will be completed by the spring of 2016.

Offering 181 apartments, students will be able to choose from one-, two- and four-bedroom configurations, each with a private bathroom. The property will also include 2,000 square feet of retail space on the first floor, as well as an adjacent five-story, access-controlled garage with 291 parking spaces.

Amenities will include a tech package that features wireless connectivity throughout the entire property. There will also be a gym, yoga studio, game room and media center. Students will have access to a communal kitchen and an outdoor pool, and the rooftop of the development will sport a sizable patio.

The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a land-grant institution, is the flagship institution of public higher education in the state, and currently has an enrollment of about 44,500. There are 24 residence halls on campus, and the surrounding towns or Champaign and Urbana are home to a heavy concentration of student housing.

Headquartered in Wellington, Fla. and Bethesda, Md., the Bainbridge Cos. specializes in the development, management and acquisition of both residential and commercial real estate. McShane Construction, which is based in suburban Rosemont, Ill., offers design-build and build-to-suit construction services for a wide variety of property types.
