Bethesda, Md.—The Bainbridge Cos. has begun construction on Bainbridge Bethesda, a luxury apartment development located in Bethesda, Md., an urban district outside of Washington, D.C.

The development, which will feature 200 rental apartments, 7,200 square feet of retail space, and a four-level parking garage, will be designed to appeal to city dwellers.

The apartment complex will include a rooftop swimming pool and garden terrace, a fitness club, a cyber café and a business lounge. The property will also be convenient for commuters—the Bethesda Metro station is a few blocks away.

Apartments in the multifamily development will offer luxury amenities such as walk-in showers, stainless steel appliances and granite countertops. There will be studios, one-bedrooms and two-bedrooms, many of which will offer views of Bethesda and the D.C. skyline.

Most notably, this new multifamily property has been designed to achieve LEED Silver certification. It will include the newest technology and energy management systems.

“Bainbridge Bethesda will include state of the art green building features such as green roofs and terraces, a high-efficiency water-source heat pump HVAC system, dual-flush water closets, Energy Star lighting and appliances, and many materials and construction procedures that meet or exceed the rigorous LEED standards, not to mention its infill transit-oriented location,”  Thomas Keady, president of development, The Bainbridge Cos., tells MHN.

Construction for the multi-housing development began August 1st of this year, and is scheduled to be complete during the summer of 2013. Turner Construction Company is the general contractor for the project.

Bainbridge Bethesda is being developed in conjunction with Restis Group, Bainbridge’s partner. Also, a significant equity investment is being made by the INDURE Fund, which is sponsored by National Real Estate Advisors, a real estate investment firm based in Washington, D.C.
