AVIVA Senior Living Notches a First in Port St. Lucie

This is the inaugural community of its kind in the local market.

The first independent senior living community in St. Lucie West, Fla., will hold its grand opening this week. The community, AVIVA, was developed by AVIVA Senior Living and designed for adults aged 55 and up.

AVIVA is set on a 10-acre parcel and features 159 one- and two-bedroom residences. Homes are spread across contemporary three-story buildings.

“During the excavation of our site, some of our team members found eggs, which we learned were eggs of gopher tortoises, an endangered species in Florida,” AVIVA Senior Living COO Jimmy Carrion told Multi-Housing News.

Due to the unexpected local resident, the project was delayed for an entire month.

“We couldn’t touch the eggs, so we had to bring out biology experts to inspect the site,” Carrion said. “And they did an entire survey of the site, to make sure none of our work would endanger any of their habitat until they could be properly relocated.”

Located at 590 NW Lake Whitney Place off NW Peacock Blvd., AVIVA features 746- to 1,074-square-foot residences that include kitchen islands, walk-in closets, upgraded cabinetry, in-unit washers/dryers and screened-in porches.

The community offers pickleball courts, an outdoor swimming pool with a sundeck, a putting green, walking trails and dog park. Inside, residents can visit a full-service restaurant and bar, beauty salon, fitness center and business center.

Also included are multi-purpose rooms for gatherings and activities. Residences are all located near the clubhouse, which serves as the community’s hub. Fine dining, housekeeping, utilities and high-speed fiber optic Wi-Fi, along with outings and community events, are included in resident fees starting at $4,300 a month.

Residents of AVIVA will be situated within short distances of retail, restaurants and recreation. A Walmart Supercenter is within walking distance, as is Starbucks and other restaurants. The USPS, as well as Publix and Staples, are located less than two miles from AVIVA. Sports lovers will enjoy access to Clover Park, the spring training home of the New York Mets Major League Baseball team.

“We did a lot of our pre-opening lease-up events there, and they do Senior Nights there at Clover Field,” Carrion said. “It’s less than a mile and you can see it from our facility.”

Outdoor recreation is available nearby at Oxbow Eco-Center, Savannas Preserve State Park, Heathcote Botanical Gardens and Savannas Recreation Area. Also proximate is the PGA Golf Club and the Towne Center of St. Lucie West. The St. Lucie Medical Center and the West Palm Beach and Vero Beach airports are in proximity.

Several weeks ago, Integra Investments acquired Monaco Isles in West Palm Beach, Fla. The 317-unit community was completed in 1987. It features one- and two-bedroom homes in a two-story, garden-style property.
