The community will open in the summer of 2009.The luxury 679-bed pedestrian-oriented student housing community features a four-story stucco and brick structure and offers a mix of 253 stacked apartments and 11 townhouses. The property also includes three landscaped courtyards, a seven-level structured parking garage, community center and a 9,000 sq. ft. retail center.“We have had a long standing relationship with the A&M University and felt comfortable doing something different in this market,” Barrett Kirk, vice president of acquisitions and development at Asset Plus Cos., tells MHN.The Lofts at Wolf Pen Creek also offers a dedicated Texas A & M metro shuttle stop, a commissioned local artwork and an outdoor café.One-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom units will range from 545 sq. ft. to 1,575 sq. ft. Apartments will be fully furnished and include flat-paneled TVs. Some units will feature pool tables, but will also require higher rent.Next to the commercial space, a 12,500-sq.-ft. clubhouse will offer a game room, a theater, a Wi-Fi Internet café and business center, a cardio room and tanning rooms. The main courtyard will feature a resort-style pool and spa, an outdoor fireplace and lounge areas.To maintain an open feel, the high-density development wraps a variety of product around three courtyards, to break up the overall mass.“We wanted to create an innovative and uplifting destination that would inspire its residents and the local citizens,” says Don Meeks, chairman, Meeks + Partners.
