Asset Campus to Manage SC Community
Built in 2009, the 760-bed Aspyre at Assembly Station is positioned within half a mile of University of South Carolina.
SmartStop Asset Management has selected Asset Campus Housing to operate Aspyre at Assembly Station, a 760-bed student community in Columbia, S.C.
The owner acquired the building in February 2018 for $64.5 million from Peak Campus, according to Richland County records. The former owner previously handled management for the property.
Located at 1000 Whaley St., the four-story community is positioned just south of University of South Carolina. Two bus routes link the property with the campus, and major thoroughfares, including U.S. highways 321 and 76, provide convenient access throughout the Columbia metro area. A variety of shopping and dining options are situated within a short walk.
High-end amenity mix
Built in 2009, the property offers a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom units, ranging in size from 560 to 1,295 square feet. All apartments include electronic locks, balconies, washers and dryers. Community amenities include swimming pools, a 24-hour fitness center, a business center, a car wash, complimentary Wi-Fi and a scooter rental service. Parking is available for residents in a multi-level structure attached to the building.
In February 2018, Asset Campus also took over management of a student housing property in Texas.
