Aspen Heights Breaks Ground in Charlotte
Leasing at the property is scheduled to begin in the fall of next year.
Aspen Heights Partners has broken ground on the 12-story Mint & Morehead apartment building in Charlotte, N.C. The developer expects to begin leasing the market-rate project in the city’s South End neighborhood in the fall of 2023.
The 393-unit development located at the intersection of Mint and Morehead streets, will offer one– and two–bedroom apartments. Unit amenities will include controlled access/electronic locks for all entries and common areas, high-end finishes, stainless steel appliances, in-unit washers/dryers, quartz countertops in the kitchens and bathrooms, pendants lighting and ceramic tile back surrounds.

Mint & Morehead will feature 12,000 square feet of amenities comprising an elevated courtyard and swimming pool on the fifth floor, an indoor/outdoor sky lounge, a two-story clubhouse, coworking space, a state-of-the-art fitness center and a spa with a steam room and sauna. The multifamily property will have a five-story parking deck with 408 parking spaces.
“As Charlotte continues to experience population growth and demand for quality housing, we’re thrilled to start construction at Mint & Morehead, which we believe will truly stand out in the market. Residents will have the best that Charlotte has to offer—convenient access to countless restaurants, boutiques and entertainment in the South End, with spectacular views of Charlotte’s Uptown,” David Helfrich, president of development at Aspen Heights Partners, told Multi-Housing News.
Mint & Morehead Location
Mint & Morehead is in the Gold District, situated in the northern portion of the South End. The property is close to the Lynx Blue Line light rail service and is near Bank of America Stadium and multiple new large-scale office developments. Residents will be within walking distance of many of Charlotte’s entertainment, retail, and employment corridors.
The multifamily project was designed by Dwell Design Studio, and Samet Corp. is serving as the general contractor. According to the Charlotte Business Journal, Mint & Morehead is being developed on more than 1 acre of land that Aspen Heights Partners had acquired for $16.3 million earlier this month.
Aspen Heights Partners intends to expand its residential portfolio in Charlotte. The developer noted it is seeking additional multifamily development opportunities in the Uptown, South End and Lower South End neighborhoods.
